Puzzle difficulty: easy, medium and hard
Use the steps and knowledge a puzzle needs to choose a set for your group. These bands are a guide, not a measured age rating.

Easy: a direct step
An easy number puzzle can ask for the missing number in 2, 4, 6, ?. Adding two gives 8. Familiar wording and a single step make the method easy to show to a beginner.
Medium: combine clues
If A has twice as many counters as B and together they have 18, combine the clues: B + 2B = 18, so B has 6 and A has 12. The challenge is choosing the relationship before calculating.
Hard: linked steps or specialist recall
A hard logic puzzle may require several deductions before a placement is forced. A hard trivia question may instead require a specific fact. These are different kinds of difficulty, so read an example before choosing a whole set.
Adjust the task for the group
Allow discussion, reveal a clue or remove the timer to change how the same puzzle plays. For word searches, grid size and direction controls say exactly what changes. Passing remains an option.
