Bingo numbers and odds: how many calls until someone wins
US bingo uses 75 numbers, and its card has 25 squares: 24 numbers and a free space in the middle. UK-style bingo uses 90 numbers, 15 on each ticket. With 30 players on 75-ball cards, someone has a line by the 21st call in half of all games, by MadBright's count of 100,000 games dealt and called on 3 Nov 2026.

How many numbers and squares
| Measure | 75-ball (US) | 90-ball (UK) |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers called | 75: B 1 to 15, I 16 to 30, N 31 to 45, G 46 to 60, O 61 to 75 | 90 |
| On one card | 25 squares: 24 numbers and a free space | 27 squares in 3 rows of 9: 15 numbers, 5 in each row |
| A win | A row, a column or a diagonal; four corners or the full card when the host says so | One line, then two lines, then a full house (all 15) |
There are 552,446,474,061,128,648,601,600,000 different 75-ball cards: five numbers in order from each column and four in the N column around the free space. Two cards with the same numbers in a different order play differently, so they count apart.
A 5 by 5 word card from our bingo card generator holds 24 words from your list and a free space. Give it more words than that, or every card holds the same words and the game ends in a crowd: the word bingo table shows how fast.

75-ball bingo: calls until the first line, by number of players
Read a row this way: with 30 players, half of games have a line by call 21 and nine in ten by call 27; in 11.3% of games two or more players complete a line on the same call. A full card takes much longer: half of 30-player games have one by call 66 of 75.
| Players | First line | Full card: half of games by call | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Half of games by call | 9 in 10 games by call | Two or more on the same call | ||
| 1 | 42 | 54 | 0% | 74 |
| 2 | 36 | 47 | 3.3% | 72 |
| 5 | 30 | 39 | 6.3% | 70 |
| 10 | 26 | 33 | 8.2% | 69 |
| 15 | 24 | 31 | 9.4% | 68 |
| 20 | 22 | 29 | 10.2% | 67 |
| 25 | 21 | 28 | 10.8% | 67 |
| 30 | 21 | 27 | 11.3% | 66 |
| 40 | 20 | 25 | 12.5% | 66 |
| 50 | 19 | 24 | 13.1% | 65 |
| 60 | 18 | 23 | 13.8% | 65 |
To turn a call into time, multiply by your own pace: at 15 seconds a call, call 21 comes about 5 minutes in, and call 66 about 17 minutes in. One player alone waits 41.4 calls on average for a line; with 60 players, the most cards our maker prints in one go, the first line comes by call 18 in half of games.

Word bingo: how long a list lasts
With a word list, every card holds 24 of the words, so a short list makes every card nearly the same and the game ends fast. With a 30-word list and 30 players, half of games have a line by call 9; with 75 words it takes until call 20.
90-ball bingo: one line, two lines, full house
A 90-ball game has three prizes in a row. With 30 players, half of games have their one-line winner by call 36, two lines by call 58 and a full house by call 72 of 90.
How we count
We dealt the cards with the same engine that makes MadBright's printed bingo cards, every card in a game different, and called the numbers or words in a random order. A line is a full row, column or corner-to-corner diagonal, with the free space marked from the start; a 90-ball line is a full row of the ticket. "Half of games by call" is the first call by which at least half of 100,000 games had a winner, and each group size uses the first cards of the same games, so the rows can be compared.
The one-player figures agree with the exact calculation, which gives 41.4 calls on average to a first line and a 2.3% chance of a line within 20 calls, the same as Durango Bill's published table. These figures change only if we change how cards are dealt or counted; an older figure would then stay listed with its date.
