Welcome to Managing Your Mind

Hello, I am Madeline Weiss from mind over matters. And I am very excited to be bringing you managing your mind for better work, play love and life. I used to call this program for dizzy people managing your mind. And I realized over the years of using these practices that I’m going to be teaching you, in my own life, that I don’t have much use anymore for the words busy or too busy, because everything seems so pretty much under control. And when I say everything, I mean, everything, work, play live in life, because everything is connected to everything else. So you know, that when you’ve thought about that work, that’s going home with you. And when you’ve had trouble getting off to work in the morning, things maybe seemed kind of tense. That’s going to work with you. And to play, we play, who has time for play, after we get done cleaning up all the messes that the mind has made for us during the course of the day. And really, when you think about it, we take care of our cars and our plants and our pets and our homes, and our family and friends, our teeth. But how much time do we spend taking care of this three pound blob of tissue up here, you know, we don’t really need more time in the day, what we need is more energy and clarity. Because the more energy and clarity and ability to focus that we have, the better things go. And so the fewer messes we make in a day, the less there is to clean up, the better things go the first time around, and the better we feel about it all. So that’s what this program is about managing your mind for a better life. The program that I’m going to bring you was first designed and delivered by knee at Harvard Medical School, and the Center for Workplace Learning and Performance. In addition to my clinical education, and experience, and my MBA, I want you to know that I have been studying ancient philosophy for decades. In addition to which I have a rather quirky interest in the brain. So who else would design a grueling, independent study of the physiology of the brain as an undergraduate, and who else would spend their summer vacation, dissecting one. So I tell you this so that you will know that the materials that many lectures, the exercises that I’m going to bring, you will all be informed by everything that I have learned about the brain, ancient philosophy, General and evolutionary psychology and management to so for all of you who want to learn how to manage your minds for a better life, here is what some other people have had to say about what you’re about to learn. Very powerful, immediate impact on my life greatly improved my outlook. Excellent, excellent opportunity. We leave the session with a set of concrete tools, really valuable tools for managing stress, bringing focus and clear thinking, this is like exercising your brain for a marathon. It was great music to my ears. I’m saying that and this is what we’re going to do for you. We are going to fill this up. We’re going to build you a great tool tips for happier, healthier work, play love and life. And I look forward to seeing you next time for module two, when we will start right in with our first exercise which we will do together. And in the meantime, any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me through my website at madelaineweiss.com. Look forward to seeing you again. Bye
