How to Get Things Done: Two Secrets of Powerhouse Productivity

How to get things done like a powerhouse, we will know that getting things done requires firstly that we plan. And secondly that we perform well to get the results that we want. But to perform like a powerhouse, there are two further secrets having planned. There’s a next step, and that is to prepare to do the specific things you need in the run up. So whatever it is you’re going to do so for example, if you’re going to a meeting, it’s not enough just to plan what you’re going to do at the meeting. In the few minutes before the meeting starts mentally prepare, take stock, think through the contribution you intend to make. Make sure that you read all of the papers that you need to read So that’s the first prepare, having performed. The second secret is to post pair. Prepare means to get ready before, post pair means to get ready afterwards. Having been to a meeting, we quite often rush off to the next meeting, and then the next and then the next. But think about it. The value doesn’t just come from the time you spend at the meeting. It’s how you follow up. Post peroration is doing the follow up. It’s making sure that you allocate enough time. So the contribution you make during your productive stage, when you’re performing really has the value. It’s the final step that makes the difference. So two secrets to powerhouse productivity.
