Book of Esther: Chapter 2

One after these things when the anger of King Ahasuerus had subsided, he remembered Vashti and what she had done and what had been decreed against turn to the king’s attendance who served him said, but beautiful young virgins be sought for the king. Three let the king appoint overseers and all the provinces of his kingdom that they may gather every beautiful young virgin to the citadel of Sousa with the harem into the custody of her guide the Kings unit who was in charge of the women, and let their cosmetics be given them. For them, let the young lady who pleases the king be queen place a Vashti and the matter please the king and he did accordingly. God now there was at the Citadel in Susa Jew whose name was Mordecai, the son of Nair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kesh of Benjamin, six who had been taken into exile from Jerusalem with the captives who had been exiled with draconian king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon had axon seven he was bringing up a Dasa that is estar, his uncle’s daughter where she had no father or mother. Now the young lady was beautiful a form and face and when her father and her mother died, Mordecai took her as his own daughter, eight so it came about when the command and decree of the king were heard and many young ladies were gathered to the citadel of suicide into the custody of head guy that Esther was taken to the king’s palace into the custody of a guy who was in charge of the women. Nine now the young lady pleased him and found favor with him, because we quickly provided her with her cosmetics and food, gave her seven choice maids from the kings palace and transferred her and her maids to the best place in the harem. 10 Esther did not make know her people her kindred, for Mordecai had instructed her that she should not make them known. 11 everyday Mordecai walked back and forth in front of the court of the harem to learn how Esther was and how she fared. 12 now when the turn of each young lady came to go into King a hash awareness After the end of her 12 months under the regulations for the women for the days of their beautification were completed as follows six months with oil of marine six months with spices and the cosmetics for women 13 the young lady would go into the king in this way, anything that she desired is given her to take with her from the harem to the king’s palace. 14 in the evening, she would go in and in the morning, she would return to the second harem to the custody or sheshe gas, Kings unit who was in charge of the concubines, she would not again go into the king unless the king delighted in her and she was summoned by name 15. Now when the turn of Astor the daughter of Abba Halle uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her as his daughter came to go into the king, she did not request anything except what head guy, the Kings unit who was in charge of the women advise. And Esther found favor in the eyes of Paul who saw her 16 so Esther was taken to King a hash awareness to his royal palace in the 10th month, which is the month in the seventh year of his reign. 17 that King loved Esther more than all A woman and she found favor and kindness with him more than all the virgins so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her Queen instead of Vashti 18. Then the king gave a great banquet Esther’s banquet for all his princes and his servants. He also made a holiday for the provinces gave gifts according to the king’s bounty 19 when divergence were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai was sitting at the kingsgate 20 Esther had not yet made known her kindred, or people, even as Mordecai had commanded her, or Esther did what mortified told her she had done under his care. 21 in those days while Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Nathan and to rush to the Kings officials from those who guarded the door became angry and soft to lay hands on King hash awareness, and 22. But the plot became known to Mordecai and he told Queen Esther and Esther informed the king and mordekaiser name 23. Now when the plot was investigated and found to be so they were both hanged on a gallows and it was written in the book of the Chronicles and the king’s presence. This chapter consists of two key lessons. The first key gasm is how Esther was selected by the king to become the queen of the Persian Empire after Vashti is removal. The second key gasm is the plot to kill the king which Mordecai discovered. he conveyed the system information to Esther then told the king about it. What does it mean that the king remembered bostian verse one? Well, the tiger marshawn says that King Xerxes sobered up after his wine fest. He asked what happened to Queen Vashti. The seven princes told the king that the king and pronounced a death sentence on the Queen because she refused to come before him. The King told the princes that he did not order vashi to be executed. Instead that king wanted her Move from office of Queen. King Xerxes became very angry at the princes, and they were hung on seven gallows. The targum shonai says that the king was not angry at vos Vashti because he was drunk at the time when the princes talked him into the decree for her death. Therefore the king to create the seven princes word being removed from the kingdom. The targum also says that because never condenser killed the sages of Judah, that his family line was to come to an end. When Vashti was killed, never can Nasser’s family line came to an end. In verse four, it says, about pleasing of the king and what does this mean? Well, each virgin would go to see the king in the evening. The next morning, they would leave the king and become part of the second harem of the king, who are the concubines therefore pleasing the king has to mean to please Him in some sexual manner. First Five says that Mordecai was from the tribe of Benjamin. Why was this important? The phrase a Jewish man, which precedes the introduction of Mordecai, indicates that he was from the tribe of Judah. However, Mordecai was not from Judah, but rather from the tribe of Benjamin. The author felt it necessary to distinguish Morton Kai’s true heritage. The targum shehnai traces his ancestry back to Benjamin. What was the purpose of the short history lesson we find him for six? Well, history is vital, because Mordecai was a part of the Jewish community that lived in the capital of the Babylonian Empire when the Persians took control of the entire community. Daniel moved to the Citadel at Sousa, along with a large number of Hebrews. Obviously, Mordecai went with him. Some of you might be wondering why, in verse seven, Esther has a second name. Well, Hadassah was her Hebrew name. Esther was the name that she used in the presence of the Gentile. Dual naming was and still is a common practice among Hebrew people. Esther is referred to as a young woman in verse nine. Well this verse indicates that when Esther arrived at the palace, head guy was found fond of her. He was the one in charge of the Virgin’s he gave her the best of cosmetics available for her beautification. The target brush Sean says that she was also given royal garments and jewelry Esther was also given seven maids what tended to her every need one for each day. The target shehnai says that Esther received the seven maidens, but did not name them. They’re actually named in the targum or Shawn. The targum shonai says that Esther gave the Kings wine which was given to her to the seven maids. It could be viewed that she was following the Nazareth tradition of not consuming alcohol. We learned in verse 10, that Mordecai told Esther not to reveal our heritage. According to the targum shehnai Mordecai was concerned that if Esther had revealed her heritage, that the Queen the king would have put her to death. Mordecai believed that if the king would kill Vashti because she wouldn’t come before him, then certainly the king could kill Esther for being Hebrew. Why was there a second harem for the king as we learn in verse 14? What we learned about this harem is that there was a harem for the virgins and a harem for the concubines. If virgin was not selected to be the queen, she would remain in the palace to serve the king as the decree. There were two units that were in charge of the two harems. Thus the virgins were kept separate from the concubines another reason for these two groups of women was so that women who went to be with the king could not pass along anything she learned that would please the king. Therefore, it would be in the nature, behavior or the natural behavior of each woman, that the king would basis decisions, not on what they might learn, but on what they would actually do. Now, verse 19, says that Mordecai sat at the gate of the city. Now what this indicates is that he sat at the gate of the city, either because he was an officer of the government because that’s where the government offices were. Or he was attempting to find out how Esther was doing by overhearing, or maybe even talking to the different kings officials. Esther did not reveal her heritage to the eunuch, or to the king. Investor told him that she was Jewish, she would not have been able to save her people. Esther had to live with the knowledge that she could be executed at any time because of her deception. She did the work of the Lord, which was to save her people by marrying the king and took her place as the queen of the Empire. Esther did not Know that she would become the salvation of Israel. How many people today are called into the service of the Lord, without knowing what their in task would be. How many people are called by the Lord and never respond or perform the calling of the Lord. In the book you will see that there is an A summary and an outline of the Chronicles of the kings of media in Persia, which is referred to in this chapter in the 10th verse.
