  2. We discuss design tools like Sketch 3, Photoshop, and Illustrator, so you can decide what to use.
  3. Overview of static prototyping tools like Marvel App and Invision

  6. We put our prototype on Marvel

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Overview

A quick and practical course on turning your whiteboard or paper sketches into mobile prototypes. Learn to use animations and transitions to convert your static designs into easy-to-understand user flows, products, or features.

You don't need design skills, software knowledge, or even know how to draw. All you need is some paper, a pen, and an idea—a story waiting to be told.

5 reasons you should take this course

  • Prototyping is powerful. It helps an idea explain itself by letting users play with it.
  • Drawing is quick and simple. Sometimes boxes, lines, and circles are all you need to describe a product.
  • You'll have fun taking it. This course is designed for you to finish it as fast as possible and enjoy the ride.
  • You'll impress your colleagues. We all want to express ourselves, this course will empower your communication skills.
  • It's free and it doesn't suck! Seriously, I took some effort to cut what you don't need and just keep the juicy stuff ;)

So, is this the right course for you?

  • The goal of this course is to teach you how to convert your sketches, either on a whiteboard or on paper into a quick and dirty prototype on your phone.
  • I built this course for engineers, designers, product managers, or anyone interested in expressing an idea.
  • This is for creators that are in the early stages of building an app or feature—teams that want to explore ideas quickly or try different approaches to the same problem
  • This is for people that want to test their concept and show it to potential users

Who am I?

I've worked as a designer for the last 15 years. Now I'm focused on designing web and mobile products, but even with all that experience, sometimes explaining a concept with simple wireframes can be a challenge. Prototyping has helped me bridge that communication gap.

What this course does NOT cover

This course does not go into detail about usability or other UX issues. I think it's obvious by now, but this course will not teach you how to code. Remember, this is for people that are in the early stages of building a product or feature.

If you want to know a bit more about mobile UX or if you want to design a high fidelity UI, then I recommend you take my other course "Design and prototype an iOS Mobile App on Illustrator"

What do you need?

  • For this course, you only need a marker and a whiteboard, or a pencil and paper
  • A smart phone. Either an Android device or an iPhone.
  • Downloading the free Marvel App

This course is quick and practical, and my goal is for you to have fun finishing it. Prototyping has made a huge impact in my work. It's powerful. I'm sure it will help you too.

So, are you ready to start? Let's do it!
HAPPY PROTOTYPING :)

The Complete iOS 10 Developer has just ONE goal - to turn you into the best developer, freelancer and entrepreneur that you can possibly be!

Other iOS courses COMPLETELY miss why you're learning to become a developer. How do I know this? Well I've taken their courses because I wanted to see what the competition is up to!

And what do these other guys miss?

Well they haven't thought about you and what your needs are! Let me tell you why I think you're here. I think it's because maybe you are looking for a way to improve yourself - either via high paying jobs, freelancing or by creating your very own successful startup.

I get that.

So whilst this course gives you all the developer skills you could ever want - it also has more. A complete section on how you create a startup. Right from idea all the way through to raising millions in venture capital funding.

--------------------------------------------------------

Which one are you?

- Six figure salaried developer?

- Someone who likes earning between $60 - $120 p/h as a freelancer?

- Someone who wants to free themselves from the 9 - 5 jive and create a successful startup?

--------------------------------------------------------

Here's a recent message I received from one of my students:

" Hi Grant, I managed to land the fabled 6 figure developer job yesterday thanks to your course. In the interview they asked me complicated questions and luckily you'd explained the majority of those. Thanks for a great course and I'm off to buy the rest of your courses now that I have a little extra change :) "

--------------------------------------------------------

Bonus For You

Many courses offer a few extras here and there. That's nice but they don't have any real value. By real value I mean, can it earn you passive revenue day after day, week after week or month after month?

This course contains an app that no other course contains. One that I'm releasing in time for iOS 10 and one that I foresee as having HUGE potential. The source code is contained in this course. In fact I invite you to compete against me with the release. If your app has more users than mine I will refund you the price of this course :)

------------------------------------------------------

Who Am I?

Everyone wants to know who's teaching them. Well, here's my bio:

I started out as NOT A PROGRAMMER. Hard to believe when I tell you that I've worked on dozens of the most popular apps out there right?

The fact that I didn't start out as a programmer means that I actually remember what it's like to be a beginner. I remember teachers throwing useless jargon at me and you know what?

It sucked!

That's why in this course I tell you everything you need to know in plain English!

  • Creating useful apps
  • Making GPS maps
  • Making ticking clock apps
  • Transcription apps
  • Calculator apps
  • Converter apps
  • RESTful and JSON apps
  • Firebase apps
  • Instagram clones (but better ;)
  • Fancy animations to WOW users
  • Creating compelling apps
  • How to start your own startup from idea to financing to selling

And a ton more!

In Silicon valley venture capitalists talk about return on investment a lot. A good return averaged over all their assets is something like 10%.

Imagine if you could have a return in the thousands of percent?

Well that's what you get when you take this course. An investment of a few coffees returns your investment multiple times over.

You are your biggest asset. Invest in it accordingly and take this course today!

How to Draw 101: BASIC DRAWING SKILLS & Sketching Exercises

This is the first episode of my How to Draw Series. This course is about Basic Drawing Skills and 3D Sketching.

If you are an absolute beginner at drawing, this session can be a perfect choice for your very first drawing course. Or if you are not a beginner, but you are having difficulties with your drawings, you are just probably missing some of the basic puzzles which can be easily fixed in these lessons.

This course requires no previous drawing knowledge or special drawing equipment.
We'll be drawing with simple traditional graphite pencil on ordinary paper.

The first section is kind of an introduction to drawing.
I will show you

  • the drawing tools you need

  • optional tools for the future

  • how to hold the pencil to get a better drawing experience

  • how to see the world with the eyes of the artist

In the second section we will go through the basic building blocks of drawing. We will develop your basic drawing skills making a lot of fundamental drawing exercises.

You will learn how to draw

  • straight lines

  • parallel lines

  • simple 2D shapes like triangles, rectangles, and squares

  • curves

  • circles, ovoid shapes, and ellipses

  • simple 3D objects like cubes and cylinders

We will also develop your hand coordination by connecting dots with straight and curved lines.

The goal of these lessons is to gain confidence at drawing these simple elements that we will use to build more complex objects.

I will give you an introduction to perspective drawing discussing the most frequently used 2-point and 3-point perspective. I will also explain an important drawing principle called foreshortening. With this knowledge you'll be able to draw subjects convincingly in the 3D space.

In the third section we'll put the drawing skills you've learned into practice. We will make all sorts of sketches on real life subjects based on reference photos. We will draw

  • a chess pawn built from simple 2D shapes

  • a chair by drawing straight lines using the rules of perspective

  • a fish using a bunch of S-curves

  • a profile portrait to practice proportions

  • a chess pawn with simple shading

  • a pair of glasses

  • a dancing human figure for an introduction to gesture drawing

  • and an astronaut just for fun

At the end of the course you can check if your drawing skills have improved. You can compare your sketches made at the beginning and at the end of the course. If you make all the exercises with me, I'm sure you will make a difference.

I hope you will enjoy this course as much as I did during its creation.

See you in my Basic Drawing Skills & Sketching Exercises course!

How to Draw and Sketch for Absolute Beginners pt 1

Learn the Basics of Sketching and Drawing

Drawing and sketching can seem like magic if you don't know how to do it. It's not magic, it's a skill. that means it can be taught and I will be your instructor. Just like anything and everything you have learned you had to know the very basics. You can't do math without knowing how to count and you can't drive without knowing what the key looks like.

This course is your "key". All drawing starts with lines, some are straight, some are curved and rough but all are lines.  Lines are used to make shapes and shapes become volumes (3d shapes) and everything in the world is made from shapes.

I will teach you to use those shapes. I will show you how to make lines shapes and volumes. You will learn to hone your observational skills and draw what you see, and even what is in your head if you study and practice enough.

You need no experience in drawing. Absolutely zero ! There is no special software just a regular pencil and some paper.

If you have always wanted to learn to draw this is the course for you. If you are a graphic artist that knows learning to draw will save you time and money, take this course. If you want to make comics or cartoons then this will be the course that will be your starting point.

This is the beginner class. Often books tell you to start by making 3d shapes but what if you are having trouble with that? If you are , I got you covered.

You will learn how you can boost your UX, UI or product design workflow with sketching.

Last update: new lecture  added on 16th  November 2019 - 12 Benefits of Sketching for UX - a Summary

Update: 17th October 2017 - new course material added: the Sketching for UX Designers WORKBOOK (24-page long, filled with useful sketching exercises)

Update: 5th June 2017 - new section added: a 40-minute long sketching practice activity through the different Gestalt principles.

The three main parts are

  1. Warming up and drawing basic shapes

  2. Sketching User Interfaces, User Flows and UI Animations

  3. Creating Storyboards.

Not only will I invite you to draw along with me throughout the course, I will also give you exciting exercises to quickly develop your skills.

You will be able to use your sketching skills in many more UX design or service design methods, like in creating Empathy Maps, User Journey Maps and Personas.

In addition, the course provides a great starting point for other areas of visual thinking, like graphic facilitation or sketchnoting, since in the section about Storyboarding I show you how to draw people, locations, objects, how to express process, use containers, color and effects, and so on.

Sketching skills are great for any product design process, but next to applying these skills in your professional workflow, you can improve your personal development as well for example by sketchnoting UX talks or podcasts.

Throughout the course I use pen and paper, so it won't provide you a complete workflow for using digitzier tablets for sketching, but I believe that almost everything I teach you can be applied for sketching on a tablet, so feel free to draw along with me or practice sketching with a digital tool.

Sketching is great because

  • this technique takes into account how our visual perception works - when we look at images, we understand them much faster than we read words;

  • it can reveal things we might have not seen before, connections we have not noticed;

  • it enables a mutual understanding;

  • it supports the fail fast approach;

  • it is a quick and cheap way to generate many ideas.

Important: This course is not about teaching how to use Sketch App by Bohemian Coding, but about sketching user interfaces with pen and paper!

Foundation for Digitally Sketching a Face

Accentuation of proper detail

Welcome to my overview on sketching a face.

The main focus of this video it to share specific details that I have memorized when drawing a face— in this case a woman.

These details are very specific for high speed deadlines, and are very important to focus on for accentuation of the right details in a fast delivery...

I work in the commercial art industry and am called upon to turn around a high volume of work in a short time. Just a week prior to this video, one job had the client needing 4 drawings within 8 hours. But in the first couple hours of that 8 hour time, I also have to delivery rough pencils for approval to make sure the composition and layout (as well as the look and feel of the people/characters) read very quickly, and clear. There really isn’t time to sit and adjust each feature as if working on a portrait commission. You have lay down the details fast, and move on--- Or miss the deadline.

So I hope you enjoy this video, and that it will give you a basic understanding of the foundation of how my creative process works when I am working on any projects— fast or slow. And I hope you will also check out my other videos on here, as well as stay tuned for many more to come.

Drawing and Sketching for Designers (and Everyone Else!)

Establish a strong foundation for graphic design by learning how to effectively draw and visually communicate ideas.

Students: 13194, Price: $94.99

Students: 13194, Price:  Paid

Would you like to learn how to effectively communicate ideas in visual form? Would you like to learn how to draw? Would you like to draw interesting and aesthetically pleasing art and designs, including products, scenes, various objects, and more?

In this course, you will learn how to draw effectively as a strong foundation for graphic design and other types of design. This course is for anyone who wants to learn how to visually communicate and draw effectively.

Some graphic designers start immediately on the computer, but drawing first by hand is a common practice at many top design agencies, advertising firms, and other types of design businesses. This process is also taught at art colleges, universities, and other institutions. Graphic designers and other designers benefit from learning how to draw in order to brainstorm, sketch, visually communicate ideas, and design.

Regardless of whether you are working on a logo design, editorial design, advertising design, digital design, or other types of design, drawing as part of the design process is an established practice that can help you more effectively produce clear and beautiful designs.

In this course, you will learn about materials and how drawing can benefit designers. Then you will learn how to draw in various sections:

  • Mark Making Exercises - Learn many different methods of mark making in the context of drawing and design.

  • Gesture Drawing - Draw an organic object, a video game controller, a Holga camera, and a paintbrush using gestural drawing methods for quick drawings to capture the essence or gesture of an object or scene.

  • Drawing Basic Shapes Effectively - Learn various ways to draw basic shapes which can be used in line drawings and structural drawings later.

  • Structural Drawing - Learn how to draw a sphere, cone, cube, and cylinder, and also start to draw structure-based objects such as a vase.

  • Drawing Structure-Based Products - Next, use what you have learned so far by drawing structure-based objects, including a tennis ball (sphere-based), a funnel (cone-based), a makeup applicator (cylinder-based), and a GameCube console (cube-based).

  • Value, Lighting, and Shading - Learn how to add a lighting source, highlights, and shadows for depth and form in drawings.

  • Composition in Drawing - Apply effective composition in drawings and logo designs. Examples include the rule of thirds, focal point, formal subdivision, drawing an asymmetrical logo, and much more.

  • Product Sketches - Apply structural drawing and value practices in order to draw products sketches such as a still life and a power drill.

I’m glad you decided to learn how to sketch for animation.

To start off with this course, I would like to answer one super important question.

How good do you need to be in sketching and drawing to be able to do decent animation?

The answer is:

You have to be decent at drawing.

Notice that I didn’t say you have to be the best, or you have to be very very good, no. You just have to be decent.

How can you be decent?

With a bit of practice.

As a disclaimer, I’m not a great artist, I’m not very good at drawing myself, I’m just decent, and that’s good for animation.

You will see for yourself in the following lessons, so if you are super passionate about drawing, you have some practice and want to take your drawing skills to the next level, then I’m not your guy, and this course is not for you.

Maybe you can get some value and some useful tips, but in general this course is not directed to you.

But if you are just starting, and you are not good at drawing, then this course will definitely help you in giving you some pointers to start drawing more decently.

Ok?

Inside this course, you will learn:

How to develop enough skill to draw anything you want in any style you want

The difference between drawing and sketching

  • How to measure proportions
  • How to duplicate references
  • Ho to draw basic 2d shapes and combine them to draw what you want
  • How to sketch basic 3d shapes
  • How to draw perspective using vanishing points and perspective lines

Drawing and Sketching seem like magic, It is often associated with talent and many people get demotivated for this reason. Truth be told, drawing is not a Talent, It's a skill that can be learnt and mastered by anyone, I'm a self-taught Artist myself and If I can learn this skill by helping myself out then an ordinary person who is taking a step-by-step course, will definitely learn this skill.

I will teach you the basics to lay a really good foundation for art. You'll learn the introductory concepts of art such as elements of art, compositions, measurements, proportions etc. along with certain practice exercises that help you improve your observation and gain confidence in your hand movements. These practice exercises are the keys to becoming really good at drawing.

If you join today, you will have a life time access to this course and whenever I'll provide a bonus tutorial or practice exercise, It'll be available to you free of cost.

This course also has a dedicated Q&A section where you can post your questions. Ask for some feedback. Or share your results from the course. I am active most days of the week and ALWAYS reply to questions within this course. Which we all know is vital to anyone looking to learn how to draw!

This Fashion Sketching Course (7-videos-modules) is for beginners: young and old, with an interest and passion for designing fashion.  In this Course you will learn how the body moves, body movement, and  balancing the body using the Plumb Line.  You will learn the industry standard "9-Heads Croqui".  We start with a simple exercise with a pencil and learn how to achieve different "shading" effects depending on how you are holding the pencil.  You will also look at inspiration as a way to influence sketching: fashion inspiration, using a "fashion diary and/or journal" - creating a "pool" from which to draw ideas from will definitely affect your ability to draw new fashion designs. You will learn garment closure: difference between womenswear and menswear button closure.

In this Course students will learn:

    • How to draw a "9-Head Croqui"

    • How to use a Croqui as a template to start sketching fashion ideas.

    • Body movement and creating an "S" shaped silhouette.

    • Balancing the body and use of the Plumb Line.

    • Pencil techniques to create "shirring/gathers", and shading, and coloring.

    • Creating a "fashion diary-journal" to use as source of inspiration to influence ideas for designing.

    • Differentiate garment closure between men's wear and women's wear

    • Create your own style.

    • And some inspiring words of wisdom...

Sketching ideas swirling in your mind onto paper is the first step in developing a fashion portfolio and a fashion collection/line.  Being able to share ideas that can eventually be translated into an actual garment is so important.
