The Essentials of Acoustic Guitar Strumming Patterns

Learn how to play the 5 most important strumming patterns used in real songs for acoustic and electric guitar.

Created by Dan Thorpe (Guitar Domination) - Specialises in teaching over 40`s strumming + fingerpicking

"]

Students: 12509, Price: Free

Most guitarists suck at strumming. Yes, they are awful.

Why? Bad teachers, bad learning habits and bad information. They are not taught the proper ways to strum, they lack technique, they don`t understand rhythm and worst of all they don`t know that this is holding them back. All this all leads to a LOT of wasted years with the guitar and a lack of confidence when they are playing and strumming it.

Using our video lessons, supplementary guide and killer bonuses you can now learn how to strum with complete confidence and gain an insider understands of rhythm and all in a short space of time.

You will be able to play the most common strum patterns in popular music which means along with a few chords you will be able to learn, play and impress others with 10,000`s of classic songs as well as write your own with ease.

Save hundreds of hours trying to work strum patterns out for yourself

Imagine being able to listen to a song, either find or workout the chords, hear the strum pattern and realize that you already know how to play this strum pattern, and then learn it in minutes just by listening to it.

Well, now you can, because in this course that`s what I take you through.

Most songs use just a select few (8 in fact) strumming patterns, a bunch of simple chords (which you are taught in this course)

Learn why most people's strumming sound dead (and what to do instead)

Well, I`ll tell you, apart from the lack of technique, dynamics, expression, subtlety and rhythm, which you will master in this course, it`s their inability to play with feel.

One key element every guitarist from George Harrison to Kurt Cobain, from Jimi Hendrix to Ed Sheeran has is a great sense of feel.

Most mere mortals don`t get past level 1 here, but I will teach you a simple little trick that can help add a sophisticated sense of feel and soul into ANY strum pattern you will ever learn.

Time is precious, and the guitar takes many, many years to truly master. Perfect this one fundamental element today – the crucial element of strumming and you can kick start your guitar playing to the next level allowing you to go on and be the guitar guru you desire to be.

"The fretting hand is the brain, the strumming hand is the soul."

So much of our passion as guitarists come from the strumming hand.

Listen to the like of Damien Rice and Ed Sheeran to hear what I mean. The fretting hand doesn`t do a lot apart from the basic most of the time.

With these guys, the strumming hand takes these competent sounding basics and turbo charges them into a powerhouse of guitar wizardry - the sound of a soulful, heartened guitar player who is bearing is his soul for the world to hear.

You can just feel the passion, sorrow, joy and love oozing out of these guitarists hands.

You will learn how to apply this and so much more.

If you were guaranteed to save hundreds of wasted hours searching YouTube, discovering these techniques for yourself or paying $1000`s dollar in lessons, what that be worth to you?

I have vast knowledge of teaching the guitar, and I guarantee once you have mastered these materials, you will have far more confidence performing in front of friends, family members, college parties, at gigs, open mic night and even jam sessions.

You will be able to write songs far more ease, and you will impress yourself and others with your strumming skills!

Each video is short, in-depth and packed full of real, practical information.

Join the course today to get all these benefits, becoming a strumming master and truly fall in love with the guitar.

How to Play Piano and Sing ‘Let it Be’ by the Beatles

Play and sing by ear. Learn a complete song. Impress your friends - or get ready for your first 'open mic' night!

Created by Rob Bee - Love music, live music, make music

"]

Students: 4828, Price: Free

Playing and singing at the same time isn't doing two separate things! It's doing one thing.

The best way to learn and get good at something is to approach it in bite sized chunks. One song at a time. Using this method you get to be able to perform a complete song whilst you are learning. It's enjoyable straight away and you get results.

In this course you will learn how to play the chords and the melody of Let it Be. And you will learn how to use your voice (singing or humming the song) to bring the two together.

How this course works is:

  • I teach you the simple chords and the melody (both singing and playing)

  • I show you what to practice

  • I break the chords down note by note for beginners (but if you already have some experience you can skip these lectures)

  • I give you simple excercises/patterns to practice (for both hands)

  • Before you know it, you will be singing and playing the song.

  • Chords and Melody. It's simple.

You don't have to be a great singer to put a great song across. You don't have to be great Singer and player to get to the heart of a song, to ‘speak’ the lyric and to touch people with its essence.

It's all about Melody, Rhythm and Love. Oh… and practice!!

Name that Key!

Name the Keys on the Piano and the Notes on the Staff

Created by Donna McFarland - College Music Instructor and Author

"]

Students: 4270, Price: Free

Have you ever wanted an easy way to remember the names of the keys on the piano?

Have you ever wanted to be able to read a note in printed music and find it quickly on the piano? Even if you don’t play piano, it’s helpful to know the names of the keys to find a starting pitch or tune another instrument.

I want to show you a method for remembering the names of the keys that is so silly it might make you giggle, but it will make them so easy to remember that you might never forget.

And then I want to show you the best method of reading notes on the staff – a method much better than the little sayings for lines and spaces. The method I want to show you is based on how good sight readers actually read, and it will jump start your music reading ability and set you up to take your reading skills to the next level.

This course will not teach you how to play the piano or how to sight read fluently (although it will get you off to a great start!). It is for learning the names of the keys and finding notes on the staff. However, first impressions are everything and the reading method I teach in this course will set you on track to become a fluent sight reader. At the end of this course you will know all the keys on the piano and be able to recognize those keys in written music.

Vocal exercises custom-designed to strengthen your voice

Singing isn't a talent you're born with. Singing is a skill you can learn, and here's why: because every single day those with "natural talent" get surpassed by singers who work hard.

This is not a lofty dream, this is proven reality. One of Nathan's students several years ago was a young woman who came in for her first lesson literally only able to sing 5 pitches; everything else would crack or wouldn't come out at all. But she knew she wanted to sing more than anything. She studied these same techniques and practiced hard at home. In time, she had one of the top auditions for her school's honor choir.

If you can begin building a habit of singing often, with healthy technique, your voice will improve. That's what this course is all about.

Nathan's original vocal exercises are specifically designed to help singers release vocal tension, using lyrics and patterns that reinforce positive vocal habits. They are available to sing along with on video, or to download and print for personal or educational use.

Nathan has a B.A. in Vocal Music Education and leads worship weekly at a growing church in Iowa. He's a composer, pianist, and guitarist. He was section leader in one of the top college choral ensembles in the nation, and he's taught scores of voice students in private lessons.

In our first course, Piano Building Blocks: "Learn the 24 Most Common Chords", we learned the 24 most common chords - the building blocks of all music. Most popular music can be played using those 24 common chords.

In time, though, playing only the basic version of each chord can become repetitive or dull. You begin to notice that what you're playing isn't as interesting as what you hear professionals play.

Chord inversions are the solution. By rearranging the order of the notes in the chords you play, all of a sudden you open up a huge palette of colors and textures at your disposal. Not only that, but chord inversions make it easier to play smoothly between chord changes, eliminating awkward pauses as you leap from chord to chord.

Why wait? Sign up now! If you're not already currently using inversion techniques, they will completely revolutionize your piano playing!

Circle Progression for Beginners (Piano)

Sound like a pro in hours

Created by Mikhail Leonkine - Musician, Pianist.

Students: 543, Price: Free

Whenever you start something, you wish to be a pro at it from the first minute or second. Unfortunately, this is not always a possibility. Learning to play the piano is no exception. It takes months or even years to get to a place where you begin to feel confident at it. Sadly, people's motivation runs out within a few days of commencement of anything. To remedy this lack of motivation, I designed this short course that teaches you one chord progression that is based on the circle of fifths. A complete beginner can play it and it sounds complex enough to make others think that an intermediate or a professional pianist is behind the piano keyboard.

This chord progression is also a useful tool to learn and to practice the other keys, so feel free to transpose it to other keys (as I show you how to do it in the bonus video). It also makes an excellent warm-up exercise.

The course is split up into five videos:

1) A short introduction.

2) Here, I teach you the notes of the progression.

3) In this video I teach you how to handle the voices and the melody.

4) Here, I teach you how to pedal.

5) In this last video, we put all of the previously learned skills together.

There is also a extra video that shows you this progression in all keys.

Please join me in this course and catch your wave of motivation to help you continue on your piano journey!

How to Memorize Piano Music

And Train Your Brain

Created by Mikhail Leonkine - Musician, Pianist.

"]

Students: 177, Price: Free

With the right kind of approach, you will be able to play the piano without looking at your hands. However, before you are able to do this, there is a lot of work to be done. And I am hoping to teach you how to do that work.

There is a very specific method of training your brain to memorize music outlined in this course.  In fact, it's a way that can be and is used in other disciplines outside of piano playing. Tai Chi is actually based around this principle. There is a very powerful way of teaching your brain in a way that makes your performances near to perfect. After learning this method, you will be amazed by how simple it is and you will start applying it wherever memory or brain work is involved.

After giving you some tips and methods which you can use to improve your music memorization process, I will go through how I would learn and memorize a piece by learning Henry Purcell's Aria, a fairly simple piece for the piano, with you. That way you will also get a practical understanding of how music is memorized on the piano.

So, join me in this course and learn to train your brain like a professional musician!

Mikhail.
