A good understanding will be given about Oracle Cloud , it's Subscription Models , Demos will be done to show the Sign-up & Sign-in to Oracle Cloud.

Then the discussion will move onto the OCI (Second Generation Cloud ) .Will perform a Deep Dive into the Architecture of OCI. We will take a look into important concepts like : What are Compartments / VCN's / Availability Domains  / Shapes& OCPu's. A couple of demos for the creation of Compartments / VCN's will be done.

The next milestone would be getting an understanding around Database Cloud Services like : ODCS / Exadata Service / Exadata Cloud@Customer. After this we shall perform demos : Provisioning Database in OCI & OCI-Classic

The last milestone would be related to Understanding ssh connectivity, There will be Demos showing how you create public / Private keys in Unix & Windows , Demo showing the ssh connectivity from Windows server & Unix Sever will be done. Will demonstrate how to connect as Admin User / Root on Oracle Cloud Machines. In the end we will challenge ourselves and will connect AWS EC-2 machine in Amazon cloud to Oracle Database in Oracle Cloud. This course is the foundation for the Oracle Database SQL 1Z0-071 certification. It covers the SELECT statement in detail, with additional requirements for controlling user access. It is divided into 6 sessions, each of which should take a morning or afternoon to complete.

Session 1

We'll install for free Oracle Express Edition and Oracle SQL Developer. Then we'll take a look at the 6 principal clauses of the SELECT statement: SELECT, FROM, WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING and ORDER BY.

Then we'll start creating tables, but find that we can't get very far without understanding data types. We'll then look at string, date and number types and functions, together with looking at functions converting between them.

Session 2

We'll revisit the SELECT statement and go into more detail. We'll create tables and JOIN them together. Once you have finished this session, you should be secure in your knowledge of the 6 principal clauses of the SELECT statement, the most important part of Oracle SQL.

Session 3

In session 3, we'll looking for missing data, and find out how to delete and update data. We'll look at the difference between implicit and explicit transactions, and various constraints, including primary and foreign keys.

Session 4

We'll start off by saving our queries in views. Then we'll combine tables, not by adding additional columns using JOINS, but adding additional rows such Oracle SQL set operators such as UNION, INTERSECT and MERGE. Then we'll look at analytical functions using the OVER clause.

Session 5

Session 5 starts off by adding totals to our SELECT queries. We'll then look at subqueries, and how you can add them into the FROM, SELECT and WHERE clauses, and also into the WITH clause. Finally, we'll look at Oracle SQL self-joins, which are useful when you have hierarchies.

Session 6

Session 6 starts off with two additional data types, TIME ZONE and INTERVAL data types and functions. We'll then have a look at SEQUENCEs and INDEXes, together with how these are shown in the Data Dictionary. We'll then create new users, and assign privileges and roles to them, and we'll finish with the last few requirements for the exam.

No prior knowledge is required - we'll even install Oracle Database and Oracle SQL Developer on your computer for free!

Once finished, you will know what how to manipulate numbers, strings and dates, and create database and tables, create tables, insert data and create analyses, and have an appreciation of how they can all be used in Oracle SQL.

Students: 1918, Price:  Paid

With the advent of Cloud Computing the biggest challenge that is being faced by the DBA's & Solution Architects is how to migrate the On-Prem Oracle Databases onto the Cloud. This course teaches you all the different Strategies and methods that you can use to migrate from On-Prem to Oracle Cloud (OCI) along with a method to migrate from AWS RDS to OCI as well.

Please note the same strategies can be used if you are looking to migrate your Oracle Database to IaaS based Cloud Services in AWS(EC2) / Azure / OCI  & GCP as well.

We shall start our migration journey with some discussion around : the factors that help you to choose your migration strategy, from here we will discuss two main concepts which drive a Migration Strategy and they are EndiannessDatabase Character Sets. As the biggest bottleneck in any Database Migration exercise is Nework Bandwidth hence we will discuss the concept of Oracle Data Transfer Appliance.

In the next module we shall build our On-Prem Environment using Vagrant & VirtualBox , there will be a deep dive session into Vagrant if you are new to this technology as we will be installing, configuring Vagrant and then provision our Virtual Machine (VM) using Vagrant and show how this whole process is automated. This would be followed by the installation of Oracle 18c XE , creation of database along with Sample Schemas and this will act as our on-prem Oracle Database environment.

Once our On-Prem environment is all setup we will proceed our journey to oracle Cloud and will introduce you to 2 important concepts in OCI which are Compartments and VCN's (Virtual Cloud Network) and then we shall provision a VM based DbaaS Instance in OCI. I shall teach you the method to setup SSH connectivity between On-prem machine and OCI DB System.

From next module onwards we will be delving deeper into different types of Oracle Database Migration methods which are available to us. The whole discussion will be divided into three parts : Discussion on the concept , Workflow of the Method , An End to End Demo on the migration method. Please note that the commands used in the demos are all given under the Resources section as well.  The Methods that will be taught are :

Data Pump Conventional Export/Import

Data Pump Transportable Tablespace

Data Pump Full Transportable

RMAN CONVERT Transportable Tablespace with Data Pump

RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable PDB

RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable PDB (Inconsistent Backups)

RMAN Restore using Oracle Cloud Backup Module

Unplugging/Plugging (CDB)

SQL Developer to Migrate Selected Objects

As with my all courses in the last Module we shall try and challenge ourselves and the challenge will be to Migrate the Oracle Database running in AWS RDS to Oracle Cloud and to accomplish this we shall be making use of AWS DMS (Data Migration Service).

I hope at the end of the course you will feel more confident as you would be equipped with all the tools & techniques that you need to Migrated your on-prem oracle databases.

Happy Learning !!!
