Having thought for over 5 years at college level and having seen most of the PHP Courses on this platform, I bring you what is missing for free. Learning, according to the dictionary, is to gain or acquire knowledge of or skill in (something) by study, experience, or being taught. To gain or acquire knowledge, you need to understand the concept of the topic, how it's used and when to use it. Most teachers on this platform are not doing that. Teaching is an art, it involves more than just taking screen shots or videos of what you are doing and telling people to do it with you. Teaching involve explanations. You may follow an instructor to build a very cool app but would you be able to do it again by yourself? Only if you understood. You need to understand a topic before you can practice how it's used, but if your used it without understanding it, then you are not learning it. Take this course and learn to understand PHP. Convert abstract text to programmable meanings and uses.

Anyone  from beginner can take this course.  If you want to learn from the basics to the advance level and build a Database Web Application, Kindly take the full course for only $12

Students: 21272, Price: Free

Welcome to the course ‘PHP For Beginners’ In this course we will go step by step to digest all the basics topics in PHP, so if you are looking for a quick and understandable way to become a master in PHP, this is a perfect course to start with. Most of the sections will have programming exercises and at the end of every section, I will be making the exercises to show you the solutions! The reason why I think it’s important to make the exercises is because you can only learn PHP by DOING IT!

We will also be looking at the basics of MySQL Database since the final section of this course is inserting data in a table, then we will be outputting the data from the table in the browser, and then we will be creating our own login and register script!

In the beginning years when I started programming, I came across so many videos and tutorials where tutors would’ve just create the code without explaining it and I always wondered “why are you doing it this way”? Therefore, I try to give you examples why you should use this method instead of another method and I try to give you real life examples.

This course is created in a logical order to make you a PHP hero in on time! The course has been divided into the following main sections:

1. Introduction

2. Variables and Data Types

3. Operators in PHP

4. Control structures

5. Functions in PHP

6. Build-in functions in PHP

7. How to work with superglobals in PHP

8. Introduction to databases

9. Using a database to create a register/login script

Why you should learn PHP

Anything that you can do on a web server, you can do with PHP. Do you read blogs? Well, blogs are created in PHP! Do you order stuff online? Well, that’s also created with PHP! What I’m trying to say it: PHP IS EVERYWHERE!

SQL for Data Analysis: Solving real-world problems with data

A simple & concise mySQL course (applicable to any SQL), perfect for data analysis, data science, business intelligence.

Created by Max SQL - Data and Insights Manager

"]

Students: 16662, Price: Free

Note on the Short Version of the Course

I have launched the course as a free, shortened version. It is an excellent introduction to the basics of handling data. Two points I want you to know:

1. The course so far is an in-depth view on a small & important part of SQL, rather than a light-touch overview of everything.

2. Technically, the full paid version is on the way. But I am finding it very difficult to find the time to complete the lessons (between other projects and work).

Therefore for those who need a comprehensive course now, I'd suggest signing up to a couple of courses now including this one while it's free. That way you can learn now but also enjoy all the additional lessons for free when they arrive.

Note on the Communicating

Udemy prevents instructors of Free courses from answering any questions from students. Therefore for now I cannot provide any feedback or respond to comments.

Summary

Forget the dry, old, textbook approach to learning code. Forget endlessly drilling syntax.

This course puts SQL in context and gets you solving real-world business problems from Day 1.

You'll play the role of a data analyst at Australia's largest fictional consumer bank, with a uniquely rich relational database at your fingertips. This context brings SQL to life and makes it easier for you to understand deeply and quickly.

With this new approach, you'll be surprised to see that SQL is fun and simple to learn. My course guarantee is that you'll go from zero to functional SQL coder within the weekend.

Best features in a nutshell

  • In plain English, with business context and fun analogies to explain the otherwise dry syntax.

  • Unique database, using a fictional bank relational database with incredibly rich transaction data to keep the course interesting and relevant.

  • Focuses deep on the absolute basics, to get you the strong foundations required for a data career.

  • Doesn’t cost money! If you sign up now while it’s free, you have lifetime free access, even as the course grows and becomes paid.

Read on for more detail

My story and building the course

My SQL learning experience was not ideal. When I started work I hadn’t the slightest idea what data was, let alone the power it brings to those who wield it skillfully. I took probably a year longer than necessary to master the SQL for data analytics. Even though I was practicing everyday on the job, I was slow to understand new concepts and struggled to remember new syntax.

Now as a full-time data analytics and insights manager, I have the hindsight to know it should have been much easier.

The main ingredients missing for me were:

  1. Structure

    1. What is important, what isn't, and why.

  2. Context

    1. Analogies, interesting examples, and plain English explanations. Bringing it to life!

So I’ve taken what was lacking in my learning experience and build a course around it. Specifically, here’s why my course stands out:

  • Structured

    • We learn what you need for on the job data analysis using SQL, no more less.

    • The topics are covered in an order that makes sense and helps you build on past learning.

    • You understand why each lesson is important, where it sits in the grand scheme of SQL.

  • In context

    • SQL shouldn’t have to be dry or boring, so I have used realistic business problems and analogies.

    • You’ll be playing the role of a data analyst at the largest fictional company in Australia, the Royal Bank of Australia, solving problems to drive sales, improve marketing reach, and manage customers.

    • Knowing why you’re learning the syntax, you’ll learn faster.

  • Hands on/practical

    • You’ll practice writing SQL in every single lesson.

We are going to have fun too, investigating cryptocurrency trading among customers, and even learning about Australian animals!

Why learn SQL?

Most successful companies today are data-driven.

  • They record every bit of information about their business (e.g. customers, sales).

  • They store that information (called data) in complex databases.

  • And they draw insights from the data to improve their business.

That’s where SQL comes in.

The only way to gather data and transform it into valuable business insights is to combine SQL and a smart analyst like you.

It's with SQL that companies know answers all sorts of where do my customers prefer to shop? Who was incorrectly charged fees? Why are sales going down?)

And as you may have noticed in the Promo, SQL is a great skill to build your career

Data careers, in data analysis (business analysis), data science, & data visualisation (business intelligence).

  1. SQL is needed to actually find and handle data in most organisations.

  2. The data handling and management skills learned via SQL are fundamental to understanding data in general, and are useful even if you don't use the SQL language (rare).

  3. Access to data can make you powerful in organisations. It's hard to argue with an analyst armed with well-prepped data and a solid numbers-based argument.

Marketing, product management, and tech sales:

  1. SQL (and the accompanying data skills) are a great way to stand out in marketing and product.

  2. Marketers and product managers propose changes to improve the business.

  3. Nowadays, any proposed change needs a strong case to support it.

  4. Data is the foundation of any strong business case.

  5. Therefore marketers and product managers with data skills can put together stronger cases, get more initiatives approved, and grow their career faster.

Why start with mySQL? mySQL is:

  • Very common, used by major companies and organisations across the world, such as Uber, Netflix, Spotify, and JPMorgan.

  • Free and easy to set up.

  • Similar to other forms of SQL like Microsoft SQL Server, PostGre SQL, Oracle SQL, Teradata SQL.

Batting Location Charts with Vagrant and MySQL

This course is about working with large sets of PITCHf/x data to create batting location charts. We use R to scrape and visualize the data and MySQL to store the data. The course includes lessons on how to install a virtual Ubuntu machine, how to install MySQL, how to perform basic MySQL administrative tasks, and how to connect R and MySQL.

It would be best if you have some knowledge of R and ggplot. This can be obtained through my previous three courses in baseball analytics. However, it might be possible to follow along without this.

At a relaxed pace, the course should take about two weeks to complete.

Richard Stibbard’s “MySQL/PDO Connection” – A mini-course

A series of mini-projects showing how to connect to a MySQL database using PDO (PHP Data Objects) in PHP.

Created by Richard Stibbard - Web Developer and Online Educator

"]

Students: 5100, Price: Free

First launched in 2014, this simple "evergreen" series of short tutorials has proven popular ever since, and shows how to connect to a MySQL database using a PDO connection and display the database records in the browser.

Why use PDO?

There is a choice of only two ways to connect to a MySQL database, either mysqli, the 'i' standing for 'improved', or PDO. All the old mysql_* commands are long-since deprecatedand inherently a security risk. No mysql_* commands should be used any more, and they should be replaced in old code.

Both PDO and mysqli are equivalent in terms of security as both support prepared statements, meaning that user input is not entered straight into the SQL query but sent along a different channel where it is sanitised and safe to use. Both remove the risk of SQL injection inherent in using mysql_ commands.

Unlike mysqli, PDO supports named parameters and placeholder question marks; mysqli only supports placeholders. I will show how to work with both in this tutorial and you will see that named parameters are an easier and more convenient way of working with database fields easier.

Unlike mysqli, PDO supports many different database vendors – mysqli as we would gather from the name, only supports MySQL databases. If you did have to swap from one database type to another you would still have work to do as the SQL queries would be different, but at least it would be possible without many changes.

In summary, PDO is secure, flexible, and convenient and the best choice for all new projects and updates, so let's get started.

This tutorial assumes you know how to create a MySQL database in phpMyAdmin on your local machine, but to speed things up I provide an SQL file for you to import the database you need to do the course into phpMyAdmin.

In this foundational course, I’ll show you how to use the open source Coldbox MVC framework in conjunction with Quick, a high-performance Object Relational Mapper (ORM) module and its associated Query Builder (QB) against a MySQL database. All the necessary modules are going to be installed with Commandbox, and we are going to power our server with the open source Lucee CFML engine.

In this course, we will install a framework’s template that implements user registration, user authentication and password encryption, out of the box. We are first going to learn how to write schema migration components, using the framework’s cfmigrations module to create a simple  User table.

Next, we shall review the Registrations and the Sessions handlers that underpin our user registration, user login and user logout processes, making sure that the users' passwords are saved encrypted within the User table. We are also going to see how our event handlers (a.k.a controllers) are connected to the router's configuration file and how URL access to the handlers' actions are protected from un-logged or unauthorised users by a security module called cbguard.

I shall also show you how to test your components with TestBox, a behavior-driven development(BDD) CFML testing framework that comes bundled with Coldbox and that you'll find invaluable in your development cycle. We are going to explore a unit test on a small CFML component, and then, see how integration tests are built, taking the Registrations and Sessions test specifications as examples.

Finally, at the end of this short two hours foundation tutorial, you would certainly have an appreciation of the benefits of Coldbox and CFML to provide us with your feedback. Based on this feedback, we'll be happy to finalise and deliver the full course, which extends on this foundation.

This GIS course is created to meet the needs of building iOS platform apps using MySQL server data in Objective C. The code provided in this course are simple and easy understanding. The whole course is not long, it covers everything necessary to build a GIS iOS app utilizing MySQL data from scratch. The goal of this course is to provide an effective solution for students who would like to handle this coding skill with minimum time expentidure.

This is my first GIS course teaching how to use MySQL database data for GIS iOS applications. I created this course for I know there are many GIS users and mobile developers are interested in utilizing server data for their mobile map apps. However, solving this problem is either expensive or complicated. Here I want to give out a simple solution to bridge the gap. If you are an experienced programmer, you may find that there are other possible coding approaches as well.

Considering students are from all levels. I tried to demonstrate the workflow in this course step-by-step and to make the code simple, straightforward, and easy understanding. All the code are put to my lecture resources files in pdf format. The important thing is that you can repeat my experiment successfully, and you can achieve a higher goal by integrating the code into your own projects.

At the time of preparing this course, ESRI has just announced their new SDK version 100.0. However, I am using the SDK version: 10.2.5 for this course. The main reason is that the classes of the new version are different, therefore the code will be different for the new SDK version. If you are new to using GIS maps in mobile app development, you are encouraged to spend a bit of time to browse the ArcGIS SDK library. The ArcGIS Runtime SDK for iOS has been developed by ESRI, which is so far the biggest vendor of GIS systems and applications in the world.

Time is precious for many app developers and programmers. This course was condensed with all necessary steps for building a GIS iOS app with working code. For those GIS users, students, iOS developers, and anyone who are interested in developing GIS mobile or web GIS apps with ArcGIS SDKs, please be aware of my other course announcements about Android, JavaScript, and iOS in the future.
