Morality and Ethics don't just belong in Moral Science Classes!
They are crucial for today's Leaders and Managers. Surveys reveal that they are often considered the most important quality for a Leader or Executive!

This Course aims to give you a very deep and comprehensive look at Ethics and Morality, with research, lessons and insights from Psychology, Philosophy, History, Evolution and Anthropology.

Research also reveals that most employees and Leaders are not very clear about what exactly constitutes Ethical behaviour, and Integrity, other than a vague sense of right and wrong, rules and compliance. This Course will change that ! With deep insights from multiple fields to give you a real understanding of the subject, rather than a simple prescriptive right and wrong read out !

We will look at what constitutes morality or ethical behaviour, what are the similarities and differences across cultures, and what are the various parameters that affect people's integrity and moral behaviour, and what you can do to ensure better integrity and ethical behaviour.

This Course is not an easy-to-breeze-through one, it covers serious and involved concepts. But it will be informative, entertaining, and very insightful :)

This is NOT a typical Ethics or Compliance Course, it is meant to help you understand and get deeper insights into moral and ethical behaviour, so that you can get far more robust lessons from it !

Build Authentic Relationships using Emotional Intelligence

Learn to develop satisfying, healthy and authentic relationships with other people through good empathy and good ethics

Created by Robin Hills - Business Psychologist, Emotional Intelligence Trainer

Students: 3085, Price: $89.99

Students: 3085, Price:  Paid

Building relationships is something that we all do having learnt these skills from birth.  Developing healthy relationships as adults means building on these skills and refining them so that we can adapt around others’ needs as well as our own.  We interact with other people in many different ways - some of these interactions are transient whilst some of these interactions are deep and meaningful.

Building healthy interpersonal relationships is one of the ways that you use your emotional intelligence.  The course covers the awareness and action part of how you interact with others in the outer world.

This course is a stand alone course for anyone interested in understanding themselves better and communicating with other people with more impact.  It forms part of a comprehensive course that explores emotional intelligence in more depth.

Authentic relationships are built around mutual understanding that involves empathy, trust and an acceptance of each other’s values.  Some disagreement and conflict will be inevitable as this is where learning, creativity and understanding occurs.  It is not that conflict occurs that is the issue, it is how it is managed.

In this course, we will explore the way that you build relationships using empathy, how you develop trust, manage conflict and work within ethical boundaries.

The course covers Social Interaction Styles looking at the behaviours of Drivers, Expressives, Amiables and Analyticals and how these work together in teams.  You get the opportunity to look at the four Social Styles, how you can work better with others who have a different style to your own and how you can use this information to build authentic quality relationships.

You'll receive all the information that you need and will be coached using loads of practical hints that you can use straight away.

The course is made up of a series of lectures and interactive practical activities that involve some engagement with other people and some reflection.

The course material makes up a one to two day workshop so is equivalent to 8 -12 hour's training.  It forms part of our advanced emotional intelligence course endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.

PLEASE NOTE - This course is NOT for you if you are not prepared to work through the practical activities that make up a fundamental part of the course.  Healthy relationships cannot be built by learning some techniques through watching a few video lectures.  The course requires you to do some reflective thinking, to get some feedback and to discuss your development with others.  I'm afraid that you won't get the best from the course unless you are prepared to do this.

There are SEVEN practical activities included within the course that are designed to help you to develop your interpersonal relationships with other people at work.  These activities are

  • Reflecting about this Emotional Intelligence Course

  • Assess your Interpersonal Relationships

  • Developing Empathy

  • Assessing your Social Interaction Style

  • Checking your Emotional Bank Account

  • Care and Support in the Workplace (Social Responsibility)

  • Learning Review

All the activities require you to engage with them and do some work outside of the course.

The course is being continually refined and updated to ensure it remains current and relevant.  Feedback is always welcome.

Investigator Ethics for the PI, Consumer and Client

Ethics are professional standards that investigators must follow, particularly if retained by an attorney as their agent

Created by Associates In Forensic Investigations by Team Beers - Legal Investigators and Expert Consultants

Students: 2063, Price:  Paid

Our agency has operated for over 25 years in Colorado, an unlicensed state until 2012 (voluntary, as was our agency) and mandatory in 2015. During this time it was greatly misunderstood that ethics applied to investigators - even a District Court judge ruled that without licensure there are no private investigator ethics in Colorado. This refutes that ruling and informs the student - from consumer to attorney, and interested to veteran private investigator - that there are ethics that must be followed and apply to both investigator/consumer and investigator/attorney relationships. Ethics serve both professional and consumer protection. Only facts obtained ethically can be evidence - facts without ethics is not evidence.

Introduction to Moral Philosophy

Ethics! Normative, applied and meta.

Created by Dr. Ellie Crouch - Educator

Students: 416, Price: $34.99

Students: 416, Price:  Paid

What will you learn?

The principles of the three major moral theories in Western philosophy: utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics.

How to apply those theories to real life ethical dilemmas, such as stealing and killing animals.

How to unpick meta-ethical questions, such as whether there's such as thing as a moral fact.

Who is this course for?

This course gives a basic introduction to Moral Philosophy and can be studied by those who have never studied Philosophy before. It will appeal to those who are simply interested in the topic; those wanting to take an A level qualification in Philosophy, or those teaching the topic who want fresh ideas on how to explain various topics.

What does the course cover?

It focuses on the the three main normative ethical theories of the Western world: utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics. It looks at some of the key figures in Moral Philosophy from Aristotle to Kant to John Stuart Mill. It then focuses on how their ethical theories can be applied in practice to answer whether its ever okay to steal, lie, play violent video games or kill and eat animals. The course finishes by exploring where morality might come from. Is it a feature of our psychology or do moral facts exist as properties of the universe? It also asks what we're doing when we make moral statements – are we doing anything more than expressing our emotions?

The course is structured to be interactive, with activities spread throughout and a multiple choice quiz after each section. Information is delivered mainly through narrated slideshows. Each slide includes images that have been paired with the ideas and concepts discussed to help make the material easier to understand and remember. There is also a transcript of each video to help you follow the material and know how to spell new terms. If any topic particularly takes your interest then you can access the additional resources section of each lecture, which will enable you to explore further. There is also a discussion group where you can discuss the ideas and concepts you will be studying.

The syllabus covered in this course is that listed in the AQA's 7172 A Level Philosophy syllabus for the 'Moral Philosophy' module. Further information on how this qualification is structured and assessed are attached to the first video. If you are interested in the other Philosophy topics on the A Level syllabus then you may wish to explore my 'Introduction to the Philosophy of Mind' (Metaphysics of Mind), my 'Introduction to the Philosophy of Western Religion' (Metaphysics of God), or my 'Introduction to Epistemology' (Philosophy of Knowledge).

To bring it a little closer to home, almost 60% of surveyed Christians consider themselves as “leaders," yet 82% of them agree that we are facing a leadership crisis. Did you know that 38% of new chief executives fail in their first 18 month on the job? Surprisingly, their failures don't occur because they lack education, experience, skills or competencies. No, their failures come from more insidious issues like pride, ego and weak character. So what's the problem here? Exactly what is missing from the leadership development experience that makes it so vulnerable and failure prone?

We believe that the primary reason behind our current leadership crisis is the that leadership training most often is focused on changing tactics and management techniques rather than on the most important aspects of leadership, the actual leader, and his or her heart, character and integrity.

In these 12 leadership development lessons developed for young leaders we tackle issues like purpose, confidence, self-worth, pride, fear, purpose and building strong relationships. We nurture leadership growth by teaching the importance of integrity and character, confidence, intermingled with accountability. We teach practical lessons dealing with change, peer pressure, and much more.

Participants will not only walk away with a strong understanding of the leadership principles derived from the greatest leader of all time, jesus, but they will also be able to apply those principles in real-life scenarios and through weekly application.

Since 12 out of America's 20 Most Promising Companies have CEOs younger than 35, our desire is to build confident and credible young men and women today so they can make a positive and lasting impact in the future.

Each of the 12 lessons contains the following components:

1. Reading assignment followed by a Q&A which should be done BEFORE your group session. Be prepared to discuss one takeaway from the reading assignment when your group meets.

2. A 3-5 min inspirational video to be watched & discussed right after your reading assignment group discussion.

3. Biblical Foundation built on our 4H framework: Heart, Head, Hand, Habits where you will gain understanding of Jesus' model of leadership.

4. Case Studies that provide a way for you to apply biblical principles to today's realities.

5. Self-Evaluation to help you identify gaps and build a plan for growing as an influence and a leader.

6. Practical Application to be done individually during the week to help you take practical steps and acquire tangible skills necessary to grow and succeed as a leader.

* If you're going through this course as a group, pick a group facilitator for each week whose job will be to read out loud questions, Scripture references and case studies, as well as make sure that everyone gets a chance to participate. At the end of each session ask for a volunteer facilitator for the following week.

Weekly lesson flow:

  • Every session begins with a Reading Assignment to be done individually, before your group meets. As you go through this brief reading, be ready to discuss your biggest “ah-ha” moment or your most interesting takeaway from the assignment when your group meets.
  • As you meet with your group, spend the first 5 minutes briefly sharing that one take-away from your reading assignment.
  • Next, you’ll watch a 3-5 min video and take 10 minutes to discuss video-related questions, which can be located by clicking the “download” icon in the upper-right hand corner.
  • After your video discussion, the bulk of your time, about 35 minutes, will be spent diving into Biblical examples of leadership where you’ll look at Jesus and his leadership model as well as at other leaders in the Bible. You’ll work through two case studies to help you apply Biblical leadership principles in current, day-to-day settings, and finally you’ll end with questions focused on self-evaluation, designed to help you understand what changes you need to make in order to grow as an influencer.
  • Each weekly lesson ends with a practical application session to be done individually, on your own time throughout the week after your group session. Practical applications were designed to help you build self-awareness, understand your core strengths and weaknesses and how to articulate those to your future employers, and to give you practical tools to grow your network and to grow you as a person.
  • Anytime you want to jot down notes and insights during the session, you can do that right inside of the online lesson by simply clicking the icon in the upper right-hand corner or you can also use a personal journal to do so.

Introduction to Ethics

Basic Questions and Answers in Moral Philosophy

Created by Hüseyin Kuyumcuoglu - Philosopher (Ph.D. Binghamton University)

Students: 8, Price: $19.99

Students: 8, Price:  Paid

Ethics is the philosophical study of moral principles. This course aims at clarifying the basic concepts of ethics. In general, any class on ethics can be divided into three major parts. Meta-ethical issues are about the nature of ethical questions or problems. Such issues deal, for instance, with whether ethics can be relative to different cultures or different individuals. Meta-ethical questions can even investigate whether there is no such thing as objectively true ethical principles. In this class, we will cover the meta-ethical issues involving moral and cultural relativism, skepticism and subjectivism about moral facts, psychological and ethical egoism.

The second major division of ethics is called normative ethics. Normative ethical questions investigate what principles are the true ethical principles, and this subdivision analyzes three main normative ethical theories: utilitarianism, Kantian deontology, and Aristotle’s virtue ethics. We will cover all these three theories in this class.

The final major part of ethics is applied ethics. Applied ethical inquiries aim at finding out the right response to particular problems in actual life. Some major applied ethical issues are environmental ethics, medical ethics, animal ethics, business ethics, etc. In this class, we will analyze two applied ethical problems: the welfare of animals, and sweatshops.

Documentary Mini-Masterclass, Ethics, Research, Interviewing

Documentary Filmmaking Ethics, Research and Interviewing Skills

Created by Hein Ungerer - Documentary Storytelling Takes People On Journeys

Students: 5, Price: $19.99

Students: 5, Price:  Paid

This is the first in a series of Documentary Mini-Masterclasses that will cover a variety of subjects related to documentary filmmaking.

In this one I cover three subjects. Ethics, Research and Interviewing skills.

The first lesson looks at the ethics involved in filmmaking, looking specifically at a filmmaker’s relationship with viewers, film participants and then also of course their own production ethics. Making factual films demand that what is presented to the viewer is accurate and reflects reality. Furthermore factual filmmakers are charged with reflecting their participants truthfully and must not transgress any trust they place in the filmmaker. This demands that filmmakers develop a production ethic that meets both viewer and participant expectations.

The second lesson covers the importance of sound research practices in factual filmmaking and how to avoid the trap of fake information in your films. With the escalating numbers of people posting information on the internet, fact checking, is more crucial now than ever. This lesson takes a look at how facts should be checked to be able to distinguished between what is an opinion and what is a fact.

The third and final lesson is about interviewing skills and how to secure a good outcome through building a sound relationship between interviewer and interviewee.

Successful interviewing depends on the rapport that an interviewer established with the interviewee. And this is no easy task. There are clear guidelines that, if followed correctly, will deliver a deeper and more meaningful interview.

In addition to the lessons there are also handouts and exercises attached to each lesson.

I trust you will enjoy and benefit from these lessons.
