Wouldn’t it be great if you could better understand why certain people, events, and things bother you at work? And how your body and mind react in those sticky situations? If you want the tools to help you master your emotional intelligence (EQ), look no further!

Unlike your IQ, your EQ is ever-changing. This course was designed to help you discover what EQ is and how you can improve it. In this course, I’ll show you how you can better manage your emotions at work, improve your professional relationships, and recognize the subtle social cues you may be missing in the workplace, all with the goal of moving your career forward.

In this course, you will:

  • Discover why EQ is so important for your career

  • Master the signs of high and low EQ in yourself and those at work

  • Pinpoint why certain events or people drive you crazy--and what to do instead

  • Create a list of your hot buttons--the things that drive you crazy at work

  • Discover when your frustration may cause you to say or do the wrong thing.

  • Focus on strategic thinking and avoid being hijacked by a “gut” reaction brought on by low emotional intelligence

  • Take control of your relationships at work and discover how to create beneficial partnerships

  • Exercise self-control yet also express yourself passionately and authentically

Without an accurate understanding of your EQ and how it impacts your professional relationships, you’ll be missing out on one of the most important ways you can prove yourself at work and stand out from the crowd. By recognizing and actively improving your EQ, you’ll be able to show that you’re ready for the next step in your career, whatever you’d like that to be.

Using a combination of quizzes, checklists, activities, worksheets, and practical application, you’ll be able to identify situations where a lower EQ can hurt your career, and steps to raise it in order to prevent that from happening.

As an executive coach, I help people every day who haven’t mastered this skill, and I see first-hand how it impacts their career. Without a high EQ, you may find your career stalling but be unable to pinpoint the reasons why. Emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills I help my clients develop, and I created this course to help you discover how you can use this skill to get your career where you want it to be.

Emotional Intelligence: Master Anxiety, Fear, & Emotions

Emotional Intelligence: Techniques for Recognizing, Overcoming, & Coping with Negative Emotions like Anxiety & Fear

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

We are top Udemy instructors in the personal development category. Our courses have been taken by over 300,000+ happy students from 195 countries.

We have a thriving community in the course and we are actively involved and answer questions within 24h.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Developing Emotional Intelligence is the biggest key to overcoming negative emotions, such as anxiety and fear.

This course will give you the tools that you need to develop emotional intelligence so you can recognize negative emotions (such as anxiety) while they’re happening, identify the triggers that cause the emotion, and overcome the emotion.

We’ve been told lies about our emotions:

  • Emotions are bad or that we’re not supposed to express them.

  • We should trust them—trust our gut—but, wait, no—emotions are irrational and shouldn’t be trusted

  • Emotions are something that happens TO us and, therefore, they’re outside of our control.

The truth is that you CAN control your emotional state, including fear and anxiety. You can learn how to avoid the unwanted ones and purposefully create the ones you want. Just think about an astronaut—they HAVE to learn how to control their mind, emotions and body in order to handle the extreme stress of living in space. And, if they are human beings and can develop their emotional intelligence to overcome any anxiety and fear, so can you.

In fact, the skill of emotional intelligence is perhaps the most valuable skill you can EVER acquire. By developing your INTRApersonal emotional intelligence skills, you are able to understand and regulate your own emotions. And that is the best way to be prepared to develop your INTERpersonal skills, a.k.a. your ability to understand other people's emotions.

Being able to cope with and prevent high intensity stress, anxiety and fear unlocks our greatest abilities, frees us to go for our wildest dreams, and is a powerful factor that is often overlooked when comparing those who are successful at achieving their dreams and those who are not.

For most of us, in our homes and schools, no one teaches us about our emotions and how they work.

No one teaches that WE can control emotions such as fear and anxiety by using the power of our own mind to become aware of our thoughts and feelings and so unlock the ability to choose our emotions and direct the content of our lives.

No one teaches us that lack of emotional management is what leads to drama, anxiety, suffering, addiction, stress and poor decisions…. And that if we learn to control our emotions we can avoid these things.

Emotional intelligence matters!

And that’s why we’ve created this course.  We’ll focus on 3 of the most undesirable emotions—uncertainty, anxiety, fear—and how you can use emotional awareness and self-control techniques to take back control of your emotions and feel better now.

We’ll teach you what your emotions REALLY mean, how to recognize them, and how to direct them in a way that allows you to move toward your life goals

We’ll teach how to get out of your head and become the observer of your emotions as they happen, so you can avoid being hijacked by your own brain and feel in control again. In other words, you will take your power back from anxiety, stress, and negative emotions.

In this course, you will learn:

  • Emotional Intelligence insights into to what emotions are and how they work

  • Emotional Intelligence tools to recognize and identify your emotions

  • Emotional Intelligence tools to direct your thoughts, giving you the power to direct your emotions

  • Emotional Intelligence techniques for re-framing your perspective to find the blessings hidden within the pain

  • How to take back your power and put yourself first

  • Emotional Intelligence techniques for stress reduction and to make every day more enjoyable

  • Proven emotional Intelligence tools for preventing loss of emotional control

  • Emotional Intelligence techniques for de-escalating anxiety and fear

  • NLP (neuro linguistic programming) techniques to rewire emotional reactions and anchor positive emotions

  • Emotional intelligence tools to cope with challenges using humor and other self-empowerment techniques

  • Emotional intelligence techniques to develop feelings of self-confidence and certainty

  • Emotional intelligence techniques to master feeling hopeful and joyful

So, if you are ready to reprogram your brain and let go of negative emotions, such as anxiety and fear, and learn the power of emotional intelligence enroll now, we look forward to seeing you in the course!

Guarantee: We know you will love this course. However, we offer a no-questions-asked 30-day money-back guarantee if the course does not meet your needs for any reason.  we look forward to seeing you in the course!

Students: 27393, Price: $109.99

Students: 27393, Price:  Paid

Conflict and disagreements are a natural part of everyday life as there is not enough of what everyone wants to go around.  Conflict occurs over money, goods, services, power, possessions, time, and much more.

If something exists and more than one person wants or needs it, there is a potential for conflict to occur.

Conflict occurs all the time - at home, at work, between individuals, in teams, in groups, in tribes and between nations.  Where there are people, there is conflict.  This is underpinned by how people are using their emotional intelligence.

Some disagreement and conflict is inevitable as this where learning, creativity, and understanding occurs.  It is not that conflict occurs that is the issue, it is how it is managed.

This course is about proactively working together with others in ways that will help you to communicate more efficiently as you work with them to understand and work with differences that lead to conflict.  In addition, the skills, processes and tools taught in this course can bring value to other aspects of your life.

Negotiating and resolving conflict requires good use of emotional intelligence - your ability to balance your emotional needs with your thinking.  Managing conflict involves using skills such as rapport, empathy and listening.

Conflict modes and styles are reviewed looking at the strengths and liabilities of each. You get the chance to complete a questionnaire that will give you an insight to the mode / style that you prefer to use in conflict situations.  Completing this practical activity will enable you to identify ways to reframe and defuse conflict, creating more productive outcomes and results.

The course, also, covers flexibility and how you use behavioural preferences around working with time.  Your flexibility and adaptability underpins how you work with change and can have a profound impact on others that could lead to conflict.

By completing this course, you will be able to

  • Identify what conflict is about and how people react to conflict

  • Recognize why some conflict is to be expected and why it is a part of healthy relationships

  • Compare and contrast the various modes that can be used in conflict resolution

  • Assess your own mode of conflict and how this helps or hinders you in working with conflict

  • Explain how emotional responses differentiate from rational responses in conflict

  • Determine your behavioural preferences around managing and working with time and how they impact upon your flexibility

  • Develop strategies for dealing with conflict and have some ideas about how to resolve difficulties

  • Discover how emotional intelligence is used to resolve conflict and build emotional bonds

This course is a standalone course for anyone interested in understanding how to manage, work with and resolve conflict. It compliments other courses that explore emotional intelligence in more depth.

You'll receive all the information that you need and will be coached using loads of practical hints that you can use straight away.

The course is made up of a series of lectures and contains comprehensive course notes. There are a series of interactive exercises that involve some activity with other people and some reflection.

The course material makes up a one to two day workshop so is equivalent to 8 -12 hour's training. It forms part of our advanced emotional intelligence course endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.

PLEASE NOTE - This course is NOT for you if you are not prepared to work through the exercises that make up a fundamental part of the course.  Conflict cannot be managed just by watching the video lectures.  It requires you to do some reflective thinking, to get some feedback and to discuss your development with others.  I'm afraid that you won't get the best from the course unless you are prepared to do this.

There are SEVEN practical activities included within the course that are designed to help you understand conflict management. They will indicate to you how you can improve working with conflict and develop your emotional intelligence in the workplace.  All of them require you to engage with your team and do some work outside of the course.

How effective are you at processing information from your environment and using emotion to drive your decision making?

How rational and objective are you in problem solving and decision making?

From the decision to rise in the morning to the decision go to close your eyes and go to sleep at night, you are constantly solving problems and making decisions.  Throughout each day you are confronted with a variety of problems and decisions that require a rational, thoughtful response underpinned with good emotional awareness.

This course is about proactively working towards solutions that help you to make timely decisions as you solve work problems to bring value to your company and your customers. In addition, the skills, processes and tools taught in this course can bring value to other aspects of your life.

Good decision making means that you can grasp problems and mindfully devise effective solutions. It means that you can deal realistically with situations as they arise and manage emotions and impulses that may disrupt effective decision making.

Both creativity and mindfulness form a basic part of solving problems along with intuition. Intuition is a decision making process that is often overlooked in business. Applied in a mindful way, and used well, it can add richness and speed to developing realistic solutions to problems.   Critical thinking to work in an emotionally intelligent manner forms a major component of the skills of decision making to overcome unconscious bias.  This is covered in detail within the course.

The course is based around the Decision Making component of Reuven Bar-On's comprehensive assessment of emotional intelligence.  You do not need any knowledge of this model or about emotional intelligence to take the course.  (It is important for me to stress that I have no commercial affiliation with Reuven Bar-on and the EQ-i 2.0 assessment.)

This course is a standalone course for anyone interested in understanding how to solve problems and make good quality decisions more effectively.  It forms part of a comprehensive course that explores emotional intelligence in more depth.

The course covers the ways to stimulate creativity and looks in detail at the fashionable business technique of mindfulness.  Within this course, mindfulness is applied to decision making.

You'll receive all the information that you need and will be coached using loads of practical hints that you can use straight away.

  • Investigate new ways of listening, leading, responding, and innovating

  • How effective are you at working with other people in small groups or in larger teams?

  • How good are you at communicating and building effective relationships?

  • How are you working with the emotional intelligence of your team and developing emotional intelligence in the workplace?

The increasing complexity of teamwork in the 21st century means that teams are unlikely to achieve superior performance through chance or the skills of an effective team leader.  What matters is how the team manages the emotional climate under which they are working - in other words, effectively managing emotional intelligence in the workplace.

This course is about proactively working together with others in ways that will help you to communicate more efficiently as you engage with each other to bring value to your company and your customers. In addition, the emotional intelligence skills, processes and tools taught in this course can bring value to other aspects of your life.

People often talk about positive and negative emotions.  This is not that helpful as emotions cannot really be labelled in that way.  The course also covers the myths around positive and negative emotions and why this terminology is not appropriate when working to understand emotions and emotional intelligence in the workplace.

Good team working means that you can understand how each other works together. It means that you can have an understanding of other people's strengths and limitations through the way in which they use they prefer to approach situations, their focus and their behaviour.

The course, also, covers working with the emotions experienced during change and ways to develop resilience in individuals, teams and organisations.

Some disagreement and conflict will be inevitable as this is where learning, creativity and understanding occurs.  It is not that conflict occurs that is the issue, it is how it is managed by the individuals involved, the team and the leader.

The course is based around the outer world component of emotional intelligence focusing on empathy and social skills.

This course is a standalone course for anyone interested in understanding how to work more effectively with others within teams.  It compliments other courses that explore emotional intelligence in more depth.

The course covers the DISC model looking at the behaviours of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance and how these work together in teams.

You get the opportunity to look at the four behavioural styles and how you can work better with others who have a different style to your own.   Completing the assessment to determine your own DISC style, will enable you to have a better understanding of your preferences and focus and how these differ from your team co-workers.

Collaboration frequently occurs in the workplace where people come together to cooperate and work on a strategic project in order that they can accomplish a common goal.  It is simply teamwork taken to a higher level and has become a more productive way of doing things.

Most often collaboration happens within fairly small teams  - functional teams, time-limited project teams or cross-functional management teams.

In effective collaboration, all people involved use their emotional intelligence well to balance emotional needs with their thinking, build authentic relationships and make good quality decisions on behalf of the organisation. Whether working with others one-to-one, in small groups or large teams, there is exemplary communication with empathy that engages hearts and minds.  This occurs at all levels of the organisation.

Understanding and developing Emotional Intelligence

What Emotional Intelligence is, why It matters, and how to develop it.

Created by Skill Boosters - Films for a better workplace

"]

Students: 13703, Price: $49.99

Students: 13703, Price:  Paid

This engaging course outlines the concept of Emotional Intelligence, explains why it is important for personal and professional development, and describes how to apply the ideas to assess and improve your own confidence and performance by developing your EI.

As the different aspects are explained via our video lectures, each section is supported by downloadable exercises and other resources to help you revise and consolidate the learning.

We all know what intellectual intelligence is, and we also know it can be misleading because that sort of intelligence doesn’t accurately reflect how well someone functions and manages at work or in life.

We also all know of highly intelligent people who don't handle themselves very well; they are not good in social relationships, for example, or that have difficulty communicating.

Just as important as conventional IQ – the sort of intelligence that gets measured in those tests many of us did in school – is Emotional Intelligence.

Emotional Intelligence is a set of aptitudes which determine how well you handle yourself in life, and how well you are able to understand and get on with others.

In an ever-more complex and demanding world, technical expertise – knowing how to do your job – is not enough. We are all experiencing higher demand, more stress, and more fluid working relationships. Now we can all do with being more proactive, engaging with others, and learning how to manage our own energy levels, our relationships, and other people.

The skills of Emotional Intelligence show you how to do these things and how to develop the insight and confidence to handle your own and others' expectations and emotions effectively.

This course features easily learned elements supported by practical exercises, all clearly explained by Barry Winbolt, lecturer and psychotherapist, based on his 30 years' experience of helping people to improve workplace relationships and performance in many different settings and cultures.

In a series of engaging videos, he explains the strengths of Emotional Intelligence and why we should develop them in ourselves and others. He shows you how to make the skills part of your repertoire. He then provides a comprehensive toolkit for creating positive working relationships, and managing yourself, as well as the increasing demands of the workplace.

By the end of this course, you'll have a better understanding of Emotional Intelligence, which will help you become more confident in your decisions and your working relationships. It will place you ahead of the pack; Emotional Intelligence is a key component in effective management and leadership.

Emotional Intelligence is based on a set of learnable skills. It is backed up by a huge body of research which shows that these skills can help you:

  • Get on better with others
  • Communicate more effectively
  • Make better decisions
  • Handle stress and pressure
  • Motivate yourself
  • Reduce anxiety
  • Manage others more effectively.

You’ll also learn why EI is now seen as the defining characteristic among successful managers and leaders.

Emotions sometimes sweep over us like a wave, they can flood us and take over us in that moment or we can get to a point where we shut emotions out and refuse to rise to them. Both of these are damaging to us as human beings, we require balance within us to live a life that we can enjoy and thrive in and improving our Emotional Intelligence levels offers us that balance.

Daniel Goleman, who wrote one of the most popular books on the subject of Emotional Intelligence, believes that recognising and increasing our understanding and levels of Emotional Intelligence may be more important to our lives than that of our general intelligence. Learning how to heighten our awareness and improve our understanding of emotions, when they are appropriate and how to change them when they are not leads to a more fulfilled life. A life where we feel every emotion yet do not live in any one emotion, where we know how to be more effective with our emotional states and how to develop each area of our lives to ensure we are never "over-run" by emotions.

That is exactly what you will learn within this Emotional Intelligence Practitioner Certification course!

Have you ever struggled connecting with people in small talk, at networking events or wondered why some people just seem to get on with everyone?

Have you ever wondered why some people achieve more success than others? What is it about how they behave and interact, how they are "wired" that drives them to greater success than others?

The academic world focuses on IQ) to define your business destiny but according to research the real world works on something completely different and that's what separates successful leaders from the average ones.

Author Daniel Goleman argues that our view of human intelligence is far too narrow, and that our emotions play major role in thought, decision making and individual success.

Self-awareness, impulse control, persistence, motivation, empathy and social deftness are all qualities that mark people who excel: whose relationships flourish, who are stars in their business endeavours.

This course goes through the 5 core emotional keys and principles of emotional intelligence to show you how you influence those around you and the people that you meet on a daily basis either in social settings or business.  You will grow as a person as you identify, nature and strengthen what you already have to gain increased self awareness, motivation, self control and emotion management amongst others.

An Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

Learn how your emotional intelligence influences how you perform, build relationships and make good quality decisions.

What is it to be the best human being that you can be?

Emotional intelligence is an aspect of you as a whole person affecting your work life and your personal life.

Your emotional intelligence is your ability to combine your thinking with your feelings in order to build good quality relationships and to make good authentic decisions. It is managing who you are in the moment to meet your emotional needs through conscious choice and is fundamental to leading a full, rich and rewarding life.

Emotional intelligence is different from IQ - cognitive intelligence, and offers a different perspective on success and performance at work.  There are many parts to emotional intelligence - it predicts effectiveness and can be changed and developed.

Research suggests that emotional intelligence and cognitive intelligence (IQ) are unconnected: you can have a high level of emotional intelligence but a low level of cognitive intelligence, and vice versa.

Your emotional intelligence is your responsibility!  How you react and respond to events is governed by your emotional intelligence.  You can work to develop your emotional intelligence, but this is not easy.

This course explores what emotional intelligence in the workplace by investigating what it is and what it is not. It covers the main models of emotional intelligence and what they mean but more importantly how they can be practically applied at work.

The course resolves any confusion you may have around some of the terminology used in various emotional intelligence courses, such as what is the difference between EI and EQ?  You'll get to understand why EI is a broader term that covers emotional intelligence in much more depth.

People often talk about positive and negative emotions.  This is not that helpful as emotions cannot really be labelled in that way.  The course also covers the myths around positive and negative emotions and why this terminology is not appropriate when working to understand emotions and emotional intelligence in the workplace.

The course investigates the advantages and disadvantages of emotional intelligence, ways it can be improved and some do's and don'ts of working with emotional intelligence in the workplace.  It will test your emotional intelligence!

Changing the way that you work with your emotions and working with your emotional intelligence is not easy.  This course will give you some insights BUT developing your emotional intelligence will take you time and a lot of effort, and even then you are not going to get it right all the time!!  Emotional intelligence is about improving performance, engagement and well being in a sustainable way, so that it sticks.

By completing this course, you will be able to

  • Identify what emotional intelligence is and what it is not

  • Explain what emotional intelligence is and why it is important

  • Explain the difference between Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Emotional Intelligence (EI)

  • Describe how emotional intelligence differences from other intelligences

  • Recognise how and why emotions are important

  • List some emotional intelligence competencies that can be developed

The course contains narrated videos, quizzes and some fun material to download - including a series of complementary crib cards.

  • The course contains some insights from one of the key researchers in the field of emotional intelligence - Dr. David Caruso from Yale University Center for Emotional Intelligence.  He shares his views on the subject and some insights into emotional intelligence as an ability.

The course material makes up part of a one day workshop endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management.  It is equivalent to about 8 hour's CPD  training.

PLEASE NOTE - This course is NOT for you if you are not prepared to work through the practical activities that make up a fundamental part of the course.  Emotional intelligence cannot be developed by learning some techniques through watching a few video lectures.  The course requires you to do some reflective thinking, to get some feedback and to discuss your development with others.  I'm afraid that you won't get the best from the course unless you are prepared to do this.

This course is being continually refined and updated to ensure it remains current and relevant.

There are THREE practical activities included within the course that are designed to help you to develop your emotional intelligence.  These involve some interaction with other people and some reflection outside of the course.  They are designed to help you find out how you are using your emotional intelligence in the workplace, how you view your emotional intelligence and how others view your emotional intelligence.   You will be guided on what and how you need to change.  The emotional brain learns from doing things and through activity.  Repetition and rehearsal over weeks will embed in changes.

Become a Certified Emotional Intelligence Life Coach!

Many people believe that intelligence, or IQ (intelligence quotient), is what determines success. However, researchers have consistently found that people with average IQ’s outperform those with higher IQ 70% of the time. So, why is that? It turns out that the missing link in determining a person’s long-term success is emotional intelligence, or EQ. Those average IQ people had high Emotional Intelligence, making emotional intelligence tools essential for any coach that wants to help clients transform their life.

Study after study have shown that people with high emotional intelligence:

· Have higher levels of performance (for instance sales representatives with high emotional intelligence outperformed others by 50%)

· Have higher levels of productivity (for instance a study of over 40 fortune 500 companies found that programmers in the top 10th percentile of emotional intelligence produced software 3 times faster than programmers with low emotional intelligence)

· People with high emotional intelligence have higher problem solving skills and lower levels of conflict

· Those with high emotional intelligence are more effective leaders and earn substantially more over their lifetime

This means, that as a life coach, nearly every client you encounter would greatly benefit from developing his or her emotional intelligence.

The good news is that emotional intelligence can be DEVELOPED! It is not a fixed in-born trait (and neither is intelligence for that matter—but we cover that in a different course).

The problem is that for most of us, no one teaches us about emotional intelligence and our emotions and how they work. No one teaches us that we can have more control over our emotions by developing awareness of our thoughts and feelings. This is where a life coach can play a vital role in helping clients learn and develop these tools.

Many people that have low level of emotional intelligence, including life coaching clients, struggle with:

· Being overwhelmed by life stress

· Getting carried away by negative emotional responses

· Feeling stuck when facing challenges

· Feeling socially awkward or having troubled relationships

And that’s why we created this course! This complete Emotional Intelligence life coach certification and training program gives you a blueprint for helping your clients develop emotional intelligence, both INTRApersonal intelligence, or understanding of your own emotions, and INTERpersonal intelligence, or understanding of others’ emotions.

In this course, you will learn Emotional Intelligence techniques to use with your life coaching clients to help them:

· Better understand the cause of their own emotions so they can shift their own emotional state

· Catch negative emotions early and avoid triggers, in order to prevent escalation

· Reduce and release stress and better cope with life events

· Develop healthy empathy so that that can better understand others without being sucked into their emotions

· Listen and communicate effectively and tune into non-verbal communication and body language

As a life coach or an aspiring life coach this course will provide:

· A proven life coaching blueprint to help your life coaching clients develop emotional intelligence.

· Life coaching emotional intelligence assessments.

· A life coaching program that you can implement as a stand alone niche life coaching service or life coaching tools and skills that you can add and incorporate to any life coaching niche.

· Transformational NLP techniques that can be used in your life coaching practice

· Essential psychological and emotional life coaching tools that will better help your personal and professional life.

· Access to a private life coaching network community with over 7,000 active life coaches from all over the world. This support group of life coaches is invaluable as you have a range of life coaches with past experience that share their experience and provide feedback and insights.

Now is the time, to change your life once and for all.

Our journey will start by understanding the basics of human emotions, on a physiological & psychological level.

By the end of it, you will experience a shift of perspective on emotional experiences as you develop & harness the power of emotional intelligence & maturity.

Many people believe that intelligence, or IQ, was what determines success. But, researchers have found that people with average IQ’s outperform those with higher IQ 70% of the time. It turns out that the missing link in determining a person’s long-term success is emotional intelligence, or EQ.

Many organizations make the same mistake by focusing on developing hard skills, while the truth is that soft skills, such as emotional intelligence, have been demonstrated to be the strongest predictor of job performance. Plus, high levels of EQ in the workplace creates more rewarding, collaborative, and satisfying workplace relationships, which, in turn, leads to reduced stress and anxiety and greater productivity.

Talent Smart studied 34 important workplace skills, including emotional intelligence, and found that EQ was the highest predictor of work performance and overall success.

Another study of over 40 fortune 500 companies found that programmers in the top 10th percentile of EQ produced software 3 times faster than programmers with low EQ, and high EQ sales representatives outperformed others by 50%.

Studies have found that high EQ also correlates to increases in earnings, problem solving skills, and leadership effectiveness. In fact people with high EQ make an average of $29,000 more a year than those with low EQ. This has proven to be true across different industries. Plus, it reduces conflict which has been shown to increase retention rates by 67%, saving both recruiting and training cost.

The good news is that emotional intelligence can be DEVELOPED!

In this course, you will learn Emotional Intelligence techniques to:

  • Prevent yourself from being sucked into other people’s negative emotions by understanding why emotions are contagious

  • Assess your own level of emotional intelligence and your strengths and weaknesses

  • Understand how emotions work and how to develop awareness and recognize your own emotional states

  • Take control of your thoughts and redirect your emotional state

  • Catch negative emotions early and avoid triggers, in order to prevent yourself from escalating into unwanted emotional states like anger or fear

  • Reduce and release stress so that it doesn’t build up, making you more susceptible to negative emotional reactions

  • Use quick, powerful 5-second strategies for overcoming negative emotions, including de-escalating anger and stopping yourself from crying

Then, once you’ve developed awareness of and control over your own emotions, you’ll explore emotional intelligence skills to handle other people’s emotions and develop better communication and stronger relationships with your co-workers or staff. You’ll learn how to:

  • Identify non-verbal communication and body language that tells you what someone else is feeling

  • Establish rapport and connect to others, allowing you to take on a position of influence and authority and be truly supportive

  • Develop healthy empathy so that you can truly understand another person’s perspective, while at the same time not being negatively impacted by their emotional state

  • Listen and communicate effectively using proven reflective listening techniques and simple, powerful communication skills

  • Handle others’ emotional states, including apathy, defensiveness, anger, or crying

  • Be an emotionally intelligent manager and create a more positive work environment with low conflict and high productivity

Additional Statistics that Demonstrate Why You Should Implement Emotional Intelligence Training in Your Business

Investing in EQ could be the best investment you ever make in your organization. Here are several examples of why.

After supervisors in a manufacturing plant received training in emotional intelligence, such as how to listen better and help employees resolve problems on their own, lost-time accidents were reduced by 50 percent, formal grievances were reduced from an average of 15 per year to 3 per year, and the plant exceeded productivity goals by $250,000 (Pesuric & Byham, 1996).

In another manufacturing plant where supervisors received similar training, production increased 17 percent. There was no such increase in production for a group of matched supervisors who were not trained (Porras & Anderson, 1981).

The US Air Force used emotional intelligence training and the EQ-I (Emotional Quotient Inventory, Multi-Health Systems, Toronto) to select recruiters and found that the most successful recruiters scored significantly higher in the emotional competencies of assertiveness, empathy, happiness and emotional self-awareness. They found that by using EQ to select recruiters, they increased their ability to predict successful recruiters by nearly three-fold. The immediate gain was a saving of $3 million annually. In a large beverage firm, using standard methods to hire division presidents, 50% left within two years, mostly because of poor performance. When they started selecting based on emotional competencies such as initiative, self-confidence, and leadership, only 6% left in two years. The executives selected based on EQ were far more likely to perform in the top third: 87% were in the top third. Division leaders with these competencies outperformed their targets by 15 to 20 percent. Those who lacked emotional competencies under-performed those that did by almost 20% (McClelland, 1999).
